The Gift That Changes Everything



The Holy Ghost is a promised gift, a divine Person, and His presence produces visible evidence.


I. The Holy Ghost Is a Promise From God

Primary Text: Acts 1:4–5

Purpose of this section:

  • Establish biblical expectation

  • Show continuity of Scripture

  • Frame Pentecost correctly

Sub-points:

  • Promise implies intention

  • Old Covenant vs New Covenant

  • Joel’s prophecy fulfilled

  • Promise is for all generations

This is foundational theology.


II. The Holy Ghost Is a Divine Person

Primary Text: John 14:16–17

Purpose of this section:

  • Correct misunderstandings

  • Establish relationship, not mechanics

  • Clarify Oneness without over-teaching it


Sub-points:

  • Personhood of the Spirit

  • Oneness clarification

  • What the Spirit does (teach, guide, convict, comfort, speak)

  • Relationship vs behavior modification

  • Conviction vs condemnation

  • Shame vs grace

This is relational theology.


III. The Holy Ghost Produces Evidence

Primary Text: Acts 2:1–4

Purpose of this section:

  • Show biblical result of infilling

  • Address cessation calmly

  • Balance experience and fruit

Sub-points:

  • God initiates the infilling

  • Tongues as initial evidence

  • Fruit as ongoing evidence

  • Assurance, boldness, transformation

  • Evidence points to reality, not ego


This is experiential theology grounded in Scripture.


Conclusion: Bringing It Together

Promise tells us it is for everyone.Person tells us it is relational.Evidence tells us it is real.
